Cancun motorcycle driver killed after car behind runs red light

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun motorcycle driver was killed early Friday morning in an inner-city crash. The accident happened on Bonampak Avenue near the entrance to the Hotel Zone.

According to witnesses, the driver of the motorcycle was slowing to stop for a red traffic light when he was struck by vehicle. His bike was hit from behind by a car that, according to witnesses, whose driver was intending to run the light.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from his bike. Paramedics found his body several meters from his motorcycle on the central roadway median. He was pronounced at the scene.

The vehicle that hit the motorcycle continued on its way through the light but eventually crashed into the facade of a building. The driver of the car was arrested from that scene.
