Although Cancun in second week of green covid light sanitary measures remain at beaches

Cancun, Q.R. — Federal officials say that even with another week of being in the green, sanitary measures against covid will remain in force along Cancun beaches. Vagner Elbiorn Vega, director of Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (Zofemat) Cancun says that sanitary filters and the application of measures will continue in the public beaches of Cancun in order to avoid outbreaks of covid-19.

He says that although the capacity is now at 80 percent (up from 70 percent) with the advancement of the green epidemiological covid light, the sanitary filters to enter the beaches will remain.

“Yes, we are going to continue with the filters. We are going to continue taking temperatures. We are going to continue giving antibacterial gel to people when they enter and we are going to continue with the orange containers that are especially for disposable face masks.

“Remember that once on the beach, the mask is completely optional. We only ask that beachgoers wear them when they are in closed areas such as the public bathrooms or showers,” he explained.

The official stressed that the sanitary measures apply to the city of Cancun’s seven public beaches which include Playas Coral, Delfines, Marlín, Del Niño, Las Perlas, Chac Mool and Ballenas.
