Akumal, Q.R. — An Akumal pedestrian was hit Saturday night crossing the federal highway in the community of Akumal. Julio César “P”, 40, was struck by a white Peugeot truck while running across the road under a pedestrian overpass.
The man was treated at the scene by Civil Protection paramedics before being transferred to a Playa del Carmen hospital with serious head injuries. He was reported to be inebriated at the time of the accident.
The driver of the truck that hit him, 43 year old Arturo “C”, was taken for questioning by police from the scene of the Saturday night accident. Police did not comment on possible charges.
