Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man from the State of Mexico who was being arrested for verbally assaulting police was jailed instead for usurpation of functions. The incident happened early Thursday morning when the 26-year-old was stopped by police along Fifth Avenue.
While being questioned, he began to verbally assault the officers and then identified himself as an active agent from the municipality of Coacalco de Berriozabal. However, when Playa del Carmen police checked the credentials he provided, they could not be verified.
Police proceeded to arrest 26-year-old Ramón N from the State of Mexico for usurpation of functions after passing himself off as an active police officer.
