Mexico City, Mexico — Aeroméxico has reached an agreement with Boeing to restructure its fleet. The reconstruction will see the air company add 28 aircraft.
According to a motion made by the airline before the Court of the Southern District of New York, the agreement contemplates the incorporation of 24 teams of the 737-8 and B737-9 MAX models and four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The restructuring occurred between Aeromexico and Boeing before the pandemic, with Boeing delivering the aircraft during the month of June.
Aeroméxico registered a net loss of 4,192 million peso in the first quarter of 2021. The 28 aircraft acquisition scheme contemplates their leasing, so there will be no cash outflow in the new arrangement.
The planes, which will be added to the 107 currently operated by the airline, will begin arriving in May or June of this year. The agreement is subject to the approval of the Court in New York that carries the adherence to Chapter 11 of the airline.
