Wet roads and dozing driver blamed for single vehicle crash

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The driver of a semi was taken into custody after a single vehicle accident Wednesday. National Guard Highways were at the scene along with police after reports of a semi crash.

The large unit was found off the federal highway near the Chumpón town intersection. Wet roads and a dozing driver are being blamed for the afternoon accident. The unidentified driver crashed through a highway guardrail and into the ditch after allegedly falling asleep at the wheel.

Paramedics accessed the driver at the scene for minor abrasions. Elements of the National Guard remained at the site along the Reforma Agraria-Puerto Juárez section of Tulum- Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway until a tow truck removed the semi.
