Cancun, Q.R. — A male passenger accused of property damage by writing on a seat inside a new city bus has been arrested. The FGE reported Friday that a male identified as Roque Omar “N” was arrested for his alleged involvement in acts that may constitute the crime of property damage.

Cancun police said the man was taken into custody for specifically targeting a public transport vehicle in Cancun.
“The events under investigation were shared on social media, which facilitated his identification as a person likely involved.
“The Public Prosecutor’s Office will continue with the relevant investigations to clarify the facts and determine legal responsibility in accordance with the law,” they said.
According to reports, Roque Omar “N” was arrested for vandalizing a MOBI bus seat by dragging a marker across the back of the seat in front of him as he started to write, however, he stopped and capped the marker when he saw he was being videoed.

The city of Cancun recently invested millions in a new public bus system. The damaged bus is property of the Quintana Roo Welfare Mobility System (MOBI).

The incident was recorded by another city bus passenger at 10:51 p.m. on October 24 showing the man dragging the marker across the back of the seat in front of him. The video was then uploaded to social media, resulting in angry citizens demanding the arrest of the man.
