Authorities secure indictment against man for simulated kidnapping of minor

Cancun, Q.R. — Luis Ángel “N”, who demanded a payment of 50,000 pesos for the release of the victim, has been charged. The State Attorney General’s Office said Friday that Luis Ángel “N” has been charged with simulated illegal deprivation of liberty.

According to the initial investigations, the events occurred on October 17 of this year, when the victim’s mother, upon returning to her home, realized that her minor daughter was not there.

Her son later informed her that he had received messages and phone calls from his sister’s number from people claiming to have kidnapped her and demanding a ransom of 50,000 for her release.

They also threatened to kill her if the money wasn’t paid.

They also sent messages, audios and photographs in which the minor was apparently seen with reddish spots on her face, in addition to recordings in which she asked her relatives to give them the money.

On October 19, the family members reportedly received additional calls demanding money.

Police said their investigation led them to a home on Pedro Joaquín Coldwell Street in the Alfredo V. Bonfil ejido, a suburb of Cancun, where they found the minor child. In their statement, police said upon arrival, they found Luis Ángel “N” holding the girl.

“Elements of the Investigation Police proceeded to arrest him,” they said.
