During the farewell event, Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo said she was happy to have received the crew of the emblematic Venezuelan ship again. In her speech, Alonso Marrufo highlighted the importance of this type of visit to strengthen cultural and friendship ties between both nations.

“It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon. We will always be here on our beautiful island waiting for the visit of our brothers. We are grateful for the opportunity to see the facilities and the history that this great ship preserves,” said the mayor.

Alonso Marrufo also extended her gratitude to Major General Ricardo Manzano Arredondo, Military, Naval and Air Attaché of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to the Armed Forces stationed on the island, to the civil and military authorities present, and especially to the commander of the ship, Ronal Briceño Huerta.

“On behalf of the inhabitants of our island, we wish you a calm journey and that you arrive at port without incident. Cozumel is always your home. Long live Mexico and long live Venezuela!” she said.
