Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A man died Saturday morning after being hit while crossing a Puerto Aventuras highway. The driver of the vehicle that hit the man did not stop.
Police were made aware of the hit and run early Saturday morning on the highway opposite a Riviera Maya hotel. Witnesses told police they saw the man make a run for it to cross the highway when he was struck.
The driver of the offending vehicle, believed to be a private car, kept going. Paramedics were called, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are in search of the vehicle described by witnesses. The identify of the deceased pedestrian has been been publicly revealed.
