Riviera Maya, Q.R. — City police located the bodies of two men Sunday on a dirt road kilometers from a state checkpoint. The bodies were found by area residents on a road in the Emiliano Zapata community approximately 10 kilometers from a Cancun police checkpoint.
Municipal and state authorities were seen along Highway 180 in response to the emergency report of the discovery. Medical personnel were called in who verified both men were deceased.
It has been revealed that the bodies found in the Sunday morning discovery were bound and had been shot to death. The town of Emiliano Zapata lies approximately 24 kilometers northeast of the city of Cancun.
At the scene, elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and Forensic Services, processed the area before removing the bodies.
