Cancun, Q.R. — The Government of Quintana Roo has received the definitive results of the 2020 Population and Housing Census, which was carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Among the information gathered was a population figure for the state of Quintana Roo, which INEGI reports to be 1,857,985 of which 50.4 percent are men and 49.6 percent are women. The agency says the number of inhabitants ranks the state 24th nationally.
Of the total population, 1,365,328 have health care coverage. The Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) also reported the average age of a Quintana Roo resident is 28.
Quintana Roo also has an index of 6.8 percent, making it one of the states with the highest growth rate, which officials contribute to the result of migration.
Government secretary Elías Prado Laguardia highlighted that the information provided by INEGI will be a fundamental tool for the development of projects and care programs for the residetns of Quintana Roo.
INEGI carried out the census between March 2 and 27, 2020. The information collected will allow the state government to have the necessary information for the development of strategies to meet the needs of citizens in terms of public services.
