Chetumal, Q.R. — A man was shot and killed outside the Chetumal International Airport Monday shortly after landing on a 2:00 p.m. flight. Upon leaving the terminal and walking outside, an assailant quickly appeared, shooting him and leaving him for dead.
The shooting happened as the man was walking down the disabled ramp from the airport. Testimonies reported seeing a person with his face covered shooting the man several times before fleeing in a white waiting Jetta being driven by a second person.
The head of the State Secretary of Public Security, Jesús Alberto Capella Ibarra, released images of the suspected getaway car across social networks. The images were taken from airport video surveillance. After the shooting, a Red Code was activated to locate those responsible, however, no arrests were announced.
Access to the airport was closed while authorities collected evidence. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Forensic) arrived to remove the body. The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Manual N from Othon P. Blanco.
