Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A fourth person has died after a street shooting outside a home in Puerto Morelos. The shooting happened Thursday morning outside a private house in La Fe neighborhood of Puerto Morelos.
A total of four people were found with bullet wounds by police responding to the numerous residential reports of gunfire. Three were pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics confirmed two had died on the street and a third inside the home while trying to escape the spray of bullets.
A fourth person, a young male, was found alive and rushed to Cancun where he died around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. A fifth person, also a male, was taken into police custody.
According to witnesses, men aboard a car appeared and began shooting at the group outside the home. Police processing the scene marked numerous shell casings that were found littering 45th Street where the shooting took place.
It has been reported that more than two dozen 9-millimeter shell casings were found at the scene.
Municipal police deployed an operation in the area in search of the car and its occupants as described by witnesses, but authorities have not made any official announcements.
