Four workers abducted from Puerto Morelos hotel remain missing

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Four men associated with a Puerto Morelos hotel have been reported missing. The four went missing in what appears to be the same abduction event on the same day.

On August 13, the four, reported to all be hotel workers, were abducted from the Punta Brava area, which is about four kilometers west of Puerto Morelos. According to information obtained, several armed men are reported to have arrived in the area on 4×4 vehicles at around noon Tuesday.

The four men were inside the hotel at the time they went missing. Relatives of the four missing men have filed official missing persons reports.

However, police were not seen in the area after the reported abductions. There are surveillance cameras in Todo El Camino, part of the hotel zone. Local authorities have not commented publicly on the four missing men other than publishing an active missing persons file on each.

There are allegations that coworkers of the hotel who witnessed the abductions did not make a 9-1-1 call for help and could be somehow related to criminal activity involving the now-abducted men. In early July, another man was reported abducted from that same area. He has not yet been located.
