Four injured in Felipe Carrillo Puerto semi-bus collision

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Police were at the scene of a two vehicle collision Friday that left four injured. The accident was reported along a section of highway near the community of Uh May.

Minutes before 4:00 p.m., reports that a semi had collided with the rear of a staff bus was reported to emergency services. Police arrived at the site at kilometer 122 of federal highway where they found two large damaged vehicles.

On the side of the highway they also found an overturned motorcycle belonging to a street vendor who became involved when the rear-ended bus hit the vendor. The two men on the motorcycle were unharmed, however, four people on the bus were hurt.

The crash between the semi and bus has been attributed to the lack of caution of the tractor-trailer driver. The bus was transporting a load of Tren Maya workers at the time of the accident.

National Guard Road Division along with Red Cross paramedics and the National Emergency Commission were at the scene. Three of the four reported injured were taken to hospital.
