Cozumel, Q.R. — A group of fishermen from Cozumel are requesting permission to head out to sea and fish since island ports remain closed.
José Ángel Canto Noh, leader of the Cooperative Society of Fishing Production, says they have asked the Captaincy of the port for authorization to go out in search of food for their families after continually being without income due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Canto No acknowledged that the closure of port facilities makes it impossible for them to fish for their products and sell them to put food on the tables of their families. He says for this reason, more than 100 members of the cooperation are going through a really difficult situation since the activity is completely halted and their only income is reliant on fishing.
