Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The driver of a glass transport truck was rescued by emergency responders Sunday after crashing into a water truck. The highway accident was reported to emergency services after motorists saw the vehicle slam into the parked industrial unit.
The impact of the hit left the driver trapped inside the cab under dozens of panes of glass. Felipe Carrillo Puerto firemen were called in to use the jaws of life to remove the stuck driver whose metal cab was found twisted due to the weight of the glass.
Given this, the noon rescue was slightly more challenging. After several hours, the driver was freed and transferred to hospital by a waiting ambulance.
The accident happened near the intersection to the community of X-Hazil Sur when the driver is believed to have dozed at the wheel and swerved off the road into the parked water truck.
