Cozumel, Q. R. — A Cozumel passenger was killed late Thursday night after the motorcycle he was traveling on skidded. The driver of the motorcycle fled the scene of the accident, leaving his injured passenger behind.
Emergency responders found an adult male of around 55 years of age laying on 45 Norte Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene from severe head trauma.
According to witnesses, the driver of the motorcycle reportedly hit a raised pedestrian crossing at a high rate of speed which caused him to drop his bike. His passenger fell off, hitting his head on the pavement. The driver kept going.
The driver of the motorcycle is reported to have later turned himself into police.
