Cozumel apartment building seized by FGE in legal battle

Cozumel, Q.R. — A 15-unit apartment building has been seized by state authorities in Cozumel. The building, Quinta Suites, was sealed by the State Attorney General (FGE) on Monday as part of an ongoing legal battle.

State officials have not reported why the building has been seized, however, according to early information, the building is part of a legal battle between two people and was seized as part of the process.

Legal representatives for the owners of the building have confirmed it was empty at the time the FGE seized it and there were no evections.

The operation took place Monday by personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office Mixed Unit III on Fifth Avenue in the downtown area of Cozumel. A complaint by the legal owner was filed against a second individual who was intending to take over the building.

The building has since been awarded to its original owner and was secured by the FGE so the property could be rightfully handed over.
