Army locates 19 bricks of washed up cocaine on east Cozumel

Cozumel, Q.R. — More than a dozen washed up bricks of cocaine were secured and eventually removed from a Cozumel beach Wednesday. Patrolling Army personnel found the wet bricks captured in deep sand along the east side Wednesday morning.

A total of 19 packages were reported located by elements of the Mexican Army in coordination with personnel from the National Guard (GN). The drugs were found in the vicinity of Playa Mezcalitos.

Personnel were patrolling toward Playa Chen Río on the southeastern side of the island when they came up a few bricks. A thorough search lead to the collection of 19 bricks, each weighing approximately one kilo.

All 19 packages were seized and transferred to the State Attorney General (FGR) where they will be added to other narcotics found washed up as part of an ongoing investigation.
