Angry residents head to CFE office after a week of interrupted power

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A group of residents in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto gathered outside a CFE office to demand a resolution. The group says their community of Petcacab has been without steady power for more than a week.

The ongoing failing electricity and the lack of attention from the CFE angered residents enough to show up at the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) office. The last power failure, they said, lasted five hours.

Don Fausto Ake, an area resident said they went to the office after eight days of constant power failures and no permanent resolution from the power company. The lack of electricity not only leaves homes without power, it also affects the public water supply since the water pumps rely on electricity to distribute water.

The group were accompanied to the CFE office by community delegate Oscar Balam Alfaro. The group said they would take to a road blockade if the CFE did not respond with a proper repair to end the week long power failures.
