A Felipe Carrillo Puerto highway fire thought out has reignited

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A fire thought to be extinguished has reactivated in the Felipe Carrillo Puerto garbage dump. Thick black smoke is affecting visibility and air quality in the area.

The fire from a garbage dump was dealt with a few days ago but reignited Wednesday. Due to its size and proximity to the highway, municipal authorities are closely monitoring flames.

The roadside fire is burning along a section of the federal 295, which connects Carrillo with Valladolid. The thick smoke has reduced visibility along that section.

It has grown considerably since reigniting Wednesday, forcing local authorities to implement a security perimeter around the area. People are being asked to avoid that section of road and use alternate routes while firemen continue to work to put it out.
