Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A dozen people were left with varying injuries after a single vehicle crash in Puerto Morelos. Paramedics and police were at the late morning accident scene Saturday along the federal 307.
A public transport van that runs the Cancun to Playa del Carmen route lost control near the Puerto Morelos overpass Saturday. Paramedics treated a total of 12 people at the scene for varying injuries.
Only two of those 12 treated were transferred to hospital for further medical treatment.
According to highway witnesses, the driver of the van was speeding when he lost control as he neared the overpass. The public transport van was found heavily damaged in highway brush as he was passing through the town of Puerto Morelos.
The van was heading to Playa del Carmen at the time of the accident. The driver of the van was taken in for questioning by police from the scene.
