Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A female passenger riding public transport of Playa del Carmen was taken into police custody after a routine operation by Grupos Tácticos and Fuerzas Especiales of the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito.
The operation was performed early Friday in centro Playa del Carmen when authorities stopped a public combi and carried out an inspection of the vehicle. Police noted one woman on board began to behave aggressively and suspiciously, which resulted in her being inspected.
Among the women’s belongings, officers found one bag of marijuana, 12 bags of a brown substance, one hit of LSD, two bags of pink powder, a bag with nine purple pills, 12 bags of cocaine and a cell phone.
After reading her rights, police arrested the woman and transferred her to their facilities for the State Attorney General’s Office. Police say the public transport inspections will continue until January 6.
