Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman has been arrested at the Playa del Carmen prison after she was caught attempting to smuggle crack.
During a routine inspection of visitor items, Roca, the on-site narcotics dog, sniffed out an item among two bags she was going to take inside the prison. Inside one of the small plastic shopping bags was a red candle that, once opened, contained the drug.
The woman, who was a visitor to the Centro de Retención Municipal de Solidaridad, was taken into custody by members of the General Directorate of Public Safety and Transit and transferred to the State Attorney General for corresponding legal procedures.
