Tulum, Q.R. — Diego Castañón Trejo has been sworn in as the Mayor of Tulum. He took his oath Wednesday after three days of mourning for his predecessor, Marciano Dzul Caamal.
During his swearing in ceremony, Trejo said “I protest to comply with and enforce the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, of the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo, the laws that emanate from them and the agreements of provisions issued by the City Council and to perform loyally and patriotically the position of Municipal President looking at everything for the good and prosperity of the Nation, the State of Quintana Roo and our Municipality of Tulum,” he said at the time of being sworn in.
After he was sworn in as Mayor, Trejo said “We are not going to stop what Marciano Dzul started with so much love.”
Trejo was sworn in Wednesday during the Ninth Extraordinary Session where the Cabildo de Tulum called Castañón Trejo to be sworn in as the new head of the municipality.
Up until this time, Diego Castañón Trejo was the Treasurer for the Municipality of Tulum. Dzul’s wife, Ileana Canul de Dzul, will continue to lead DIF-Tulum.
