Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña sworn in as the new Mayor of Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña has been sworn in as the new mayor of Cancun. On Monday, de la Peña was sworn in as the new mayor by Mara Lezama Espinosa, the new Governor and former two time mayor of Cancun.

Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña confirmed her commitment to build a different, united Quintana Roo.

“They count on me, mayors, to fight, to manage, to walk the streets, to travel, to resolve. Let’s do it together. Let’s help each other. That’s the only way we’re going to achieve it,” she said during her swearing in ceremony.

De la Peña swore to lead a fully respectful government of the division of powers, of municipal autonomy and of democratic values. “I said it yesterday and I say it again today, and it will be so,” she said.

Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña will take over the reins from Lourdes Latife Cardona Muza who acted as the Mayor of Cancun in place of Mara Lezama while she pursued the vacating governor position.
