Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — National Guard and municipal authorities were at the scene of a highway pedestrian accident Thursday. Police were called to the federal 307 Thursday afternoon near the Puerto Morelos overpass where an SUV hit a man.
The accident happened in the northbound lane where the man was attempting to jaywalk the highway.
The driver of the Jeep was unable to brake in time, clipping the man. The pedestrian hit the right side of the vehicle, sending the SUV into a skid in the central median.

Eye witnesses called for help while the man lay unconscious on the asphalt.
Paramedics were able to stabilize the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital alive. His current status is unknown.
Members of the National Guard remained on site to investigate the accident. The driver of the Jeep was taken into custody for questioning by police. Highway traffic was left a standstill while police and emergency services worked to clear the area.
