Chetumal, Q.R. — Head of the Ministry of Finance and Planning (Sefiplan) says that from 2017 to date, more than one billion peso has been recovered from the six-year term of ex-governor Roberto Borge.
Yohanet Torrez Muñoz, head of la Secretaría de Finanzas y Planeación for the state, says the recovered money, which was returned to the state mostly in 2017 and 2018, will go toward the financing of infrastructure projects throughout the state.
Her announcement coincides with that of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor who also reports the recovery of more than one billion peso from legal processes of former officials during the Borge era.
Torrez Muñoz commented that there have been numerous deposits made to state coffers, which, after established procedures, will be used for infrastructure financing.
She said she does not know the exact figures of what has been recovered since 2017, but considered that many of the assets that were seized and are part of the compensation for the property damage caused by the past administration, will continue to be added.
She explained that this last issue is being handled by the Strategic Projects Agency of Quintana Roo where the necessary procedures are carried out so that properties that were removed from the state are recovered.
