Mexico City, Mexico — In a public statement, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirms he has tested positive for Covid-19. The president made his test public via a social media post Sunday.
He says although he has tested positive, “I am optimistic, we will move forward,” adding that “the symptoms are mild, but I am already under medical treatment. As always, I am optimistic,” he said.
He also indicated that he will continue to monitor the nation’s affairs and that on Monday, he will talk with President Vladimir Putin since there is the possibility of receiving the Sputnik V vaccine in Mexico.
AMLO added that in the meantime, the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, will represent him during the morning press conferences.
