Men reported missing in Lázaro Cárdenas found dead in Puerto Morelos

Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — Two men reported missing from the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas have been found dead in Puerto Morelos. Their bodies were discovered during a foot search on April 21.

Both men were reported missing from the town of Kantunilkín in Lázaro Cárdenas on April 10. On Wednesday, the State Attorney General (FGE) said the bodies were found last week in a green area near the town of Leona Vicario in the municipality of Puerto Morelos in black bags.

“Following field, technical and office-based investigations, as well as the implementation of search operations in coordination with the Interinstitutional Group, the State Attorney General’s Office reports the location and deactivation of two males.

“Osbert Nicolás de Atocha Valle Pinzón and Fernando Hermosillo Curiel were reported missing on April 10 of this year in the town of Kantunilkín, Lázaro Cárdenas. The victims’ remains were located Monday, April 21 during a search operation in a green area near the town of Leona Vicario, in the municipality of Puerto Morelos,” they said.

Authorities reported both bodies were found inside black bags and were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) in Cancun for identification. “The results were positive and the bodies were returned to their respective families,” they said. Both were businessmen from Chiapas.

Three hawks detained in disappearance of two Lázaro Cárdenas businessmen

The day after that discovery, authorities announced the arrest of three people. The three were arrested for the disappearance of the two businessmen in the town of Kantunilkín. One of the detainees José “N”, a minor, is also suspected of being linked to the disappearance of the two Chiapas businessmen.
