Manager of Mamitas beach club in Playa del Carmen shot to death inside premises

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The manager of a city beach club was found shot to death Tuesday evening inside a bathroom. The shooting victim is reportedly the manager of the Mamita’s Beach Club.

Preliminary information says the man shot and killed was Federico Mazzoni, manager of Mamita’s. The Argentinian-native has lived in the city for nearly two decades. He was found dead inside the restaurant’s bathroom Tuesday evening after being shot twice.

Restaurant security footage shows the alleged shooters escaping the scene on a jet ski.

According to preliminary information, the C-5 Command Centre received a report of the finding of a deceased person shortly before 6:00 p.m. Police responded to the call on 28th Street.

Prosecutor Óscar Montes de Oca has revealed that what is known so far is that two men arrived at the beach club facilities and were talking to Federico Mazzoni before shooting him and fleeing. He did not give more details, but said that there was also no prior complaint by this business for a possible threat against him or demand of money for floor rights.

Mamita’s Beach Club issued a brief statement in which it lamented the murder of its colleague and said that they will be attentive to the investigation by authorities.

In a briefing, the FGE posted a short statement on social media. “The FGE Quintana Roo reports that it has started an investigation for the murder of a restaurant employee in the Municipality of Solidaridad. PDI agents and experts are on the scene collecting interviews and evidence to identify the participant(s) in these events.”
