Man who mistakes private car for Uber arrested for throwing ‘liquid’ at vehicle

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who mistook a private driver for an Uber has landed himself in jail. The man was jailed Wednesday after throwing a liquid, believed to be acid, at a private car.

José Alberto “N”, who was in a taxi, was arrested after the owner of the damaged car hailed down a passing police unit. After explaining that while dropping off his wife at work, the now-detained was identified as the man who approached his car and threw what appeared to be acid on it.

The incident happened at Kilometer 14 of Kukulkan Boulevard in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The accused attempted to flee aboard a vehicle, but was apprehended. He was detained for assaulting a citizen. Police did not say if he is an active taxi driver.
