Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — The driver of a company truck that was gored by a highway guardrail was lucky to walk away. The male driver suffered only minor injuries when a guardrail went completely through his cargo truck.
The driver for the Tía Rosa company survived the Monday accident near the community of San Luis after veering off the road and into a metal guardrail.
After leaving the road, his small truck hit the front a the guardrail, driving it completely through the vehicle and out the back doors of the cargo box.
The metal rail pierced the engine, entered the cab and scraped by the driver’s seat, not seriously injuring the driver, however, the truck was left inoperable.
Traffic was slowed in the area for approximately one hour while authorities waited for a tow truck to remove the gored vehicle.
Police did not say exactly how the accident happened. There were no other vehicles involved.
