Chetumal, Q.R. — The Instituto Electoral de Quintana Roo (Ieqroo) has confirmed 57 candidates that will compete in the upcoming Quintana Roo elections.
President of the Political Parties Commission of the electoral body, Thalia Hernández Robledo, confirmed the following political candidates for their respected municipalities.
Those running for the mayor position in José María Morelos include Luis Fernando Castillo Mukul, Teresita de Jesús Hernández Cervera, Sofía Alcocer Alcocer, Rita Antonia Hernández Hernández, María Magdalena Tzun Arceo and Joaquín Inurreta Canul.
In the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas, Orlando Emir Bellos Tun, Josué Nivardo Mena Villanueva, Juan José Calixto Góngora, Paloma Beatriz Góngora González and Ana Gabriela Koyoc Noh will compete.
For the municipality of Benito Juárez, Jorge Rodríguez Méndez, Jesús de los Ángeles Pool Moo, Isaac Janix Alanís, Erick Daniel Estrella Matos, Eduardo Ovando Martínez, Carlos Balmaceda Ostos and Cancun’s current mayor María Elena Lezama Espinosa are registered to run for the position to be Cancun mayor.
In the municipality of Cozumel, Aurora Ariadne Santín Coral, Rubí Guadalupe Peniche Gamboa, Juanita Obdulia Alonso Marrufo, Gabriela Angulo Sauri, Carlos Enrique Canto Martín and Cozumel’s current mayor Pedro Oscar Joaquín Delbouis are all running.
Regarding the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, Juan José Ortiz Cardín, Lidia Esther Rojas Fabro, Nabil Eljure Terrazas, José Ángel Muñoz González and María Esther Montufar Bailón have expressed interest in the position.
In the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Paoly Elizabeth Perera Maldonado, Verónica Batun Chuc and Maricarmen Candelaria Hernández will compete.
In Tulum, Víctor Mas Tah is running again to head the municipality and will compete for the position with María Ángela Dzul May, Marciano Dzul Caamal, Elizabeth del Socorro Martínez Bardales and Humberto Aban Uicab.
In Isla Mujeres, Teresa Atenea Gómez Ricalde, María Cristina Góngora Martínez, Fernando Ricardo Bacelis Godoy and María de los Ángeles Novelo Torres will run to be the next mayor.
Competing for the municipality of Solidaridad are Roxana Lili Campos Miranda, Marciano Toledo Sánchez, José Gabriel Mendicuti Loria, Manuel Antonio Valencia López, César García Lagunas, Luis Fernando Roldán Carrillo and Playa del Carmen’s current mayor, Laura Esther Beristain Navarrete.
In Bacalar it will be José Alfredo Contreras Méndez, Jorge Leonardo Villanueva Caamal, Alejandro Castillo Aguilar and Gloria María Tzab Salazar.
Running to be the new head of Puerto Morelos is Rosa Isabel Ancona García, Manuel Tirso Esquivel Ávila, Lía Beatriz Ortiz Mejía, Saydi Iliana Trujillo Encalada and Yazmín Del Carmen Vivas Medina.
The debates, in accordance with the approved regulations, will be both in person and via digital platforms.
