Chetumal, Q.R. — The plenary session of the Judicial Branch of the State of Quintana Roo has elected Magistrate Gustavo Adolfo del Rosal Ricalde as the new interim president of the Superior Court of Justice.
The announcement was made after the court voted in favor of Adolfo Rosal replacing José Antonio León Ruiz, who had been in office since 2017. The term of Ruiz ended January 25.
Senior Magistrate, Mario Aguilar Laguardia acknowledged that this is an unprecedented and historic vote since October 15, 1974, no magistrate had held the position, but on this occasion, it was necessary to appoint a Presiding Magistrate.
He said that Judge Gustavo Adolfo del Rosal Ricalde was elected by seven votes in-favor-of as president of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Quintana Roo and of the Judicial Council.
The new President Magistrate will occupy the position for a period of eight months, from January 26, 2022 to August 30, 2022.
