Chetumal, Q.R. — Governor Carlos Joaquin says the handover of the governor position will take place in September. Two time Cancun mayor, Mara Lezama, won the June 5 election. She will officially take over the position of Governor of Quintana Roo in September.
In a briefing, Joaquin said the transition to the new governor will be a peaceful one adding that everything will be in order for the new incoming administration that will be headed by Lezama.
Joaquin said that once the official vote counts are complete and her certification as new governor delivered by the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE) of Quintana Roo, the delivery-reception process will begin.
He said during his term, healthy finances have been maintained which will give certainty to the new administration, adding that full transparency will be part of the process.
“We do not want the same thing to happen as when we arrived at the administration where there was no certainty, nor clarity in anything, which took us longer to put things in order,” he said.
