Colombian man who escaped police custody rearrested in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who escaped police custody through a bathroom window in Cancun headquarters Wednesday, has been rearrested.

The 24-year-old Colombian was arrested by Cancun police Wednesday morning in SM 89 only to escape through a bathroom window at police headquarters. An alert was released of his escape from authorities, however, within hours, he was rearrested with two others by Quintana Roo Police.

Police managed to rearrest Brian Zapata López, a native of Calo, Colombia who they report was found in a safe house in Region 235 by federal elements. Brian, along with two others, were taken into custody during an operation in the city of Cancun where elements of la Guardia Nacional, la Marina and personnel from la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública participated in the search.

The three men were wanted for their alleged involvement in a triple homicide that occurred in Region 247 of Cancun Sunday.
