Cancun, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama says progress on the Kukulcán road interchange has registered 70% complete. She said the more than 500 million peso project is part of the connection to the Nichupté bridge and is expected to be finished this year.
The Kukulcan road interchange, a strategic infrastructure project to improve mobility in Cancun’s hotel zone and its connection to the Nichupte bridge, is approximately 70 percent complete, she confirmed Sunday.
The road interchange represents an investment of over 500 million pesos and spans 1.92 kilometers. Currently, work is underway on foundations, columns, piers, footings, beams, and slabs, while the structure is beginning to take shape in the sections that will connect to the city center and the Nichupté Bridge.
Mara Lezama explained that a significant part of the work involves underground infrastructure, including hydraulic drainage and drinking water networks, which has required longer execution times due to the complexity of the works.
The Governor highlighted that the project is part of the infrastructure actions managed before the Federal Government, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, with the objective of guaranteeing greater vehicular flow both on Kukulcán Boulevard and on the Nichupté Bridge.
She noted that the project began in April and that, if the anticipated conditions held, it could be completed by December. However, he added that rain could delay its completion until January 2027.
