Mexico City, Mexico — The Mexican ambassador to Ukraine, Olga Beatriz García Guillén, was part of the caravan of Mexican nationals to leave after it was invaded by Russia.
Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard explained that the bus carrying García Guillén and 24 Mexicans arrived in Siret, Romania on Wednesday. The Mexican ambassador to Romania, Guillermo Ordorica Robles, received the group led by the diplomat, who previously reported that she heard explosions near the building where she worked. That area had since been closed.
On February 25, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reported that there was an explosion in the building next to the Mexican Embassy in Ukraine. After that, Ambassador Olga Beatriz García Guillén said that she was no longer allowed access to the embassy.
“She is working from her residence,” Ebrard said at the time.
On Wednesday Ebrard posted “With the good news that the bus that left Kiev arrived in Siret, Romania, with 24 safe and sound passengers accompanied by our ambassador to Ukraine, Olga García Guillén. They were received by Guillermo Ordorica a few moments ago. Congratulations, great joy!!!”
