Mexico City, Mexico — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says Russia’s president has agreed to ship 24 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine to Mexico. AMLO made the announcement after a video call with Vladimir Putin on Monday.
“I thanked him for the decision to send us 24 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine over the next two months,” he reported.
He said during the call, both leaders endorsed the relations of cooperation and friendship. The chief executive thanked the Russian president for the affection he expressed and invited him to make a state visit to the country.
On Sunday, Mexico’s president Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19. His temporary stand-in, Olga Sánchez Cordero, reported the president with “slight symptoms”, noting he is “well and strong”.
“We can say with all sincerity and frankness that the president is well and strong, is coordinating matters and will attend remotely giving the necessary instructions,” explained the Secretary of the Interior at the morning conference.
