Cancun, Q.R. — A government cabinet shuffle of Carlos Joaquin has seen a new appointment for the head of Cancun tourism. Jorge Luis Téllez Vignet has been appointed as the new head of the Tourism Directorate of the Benito Juárez City Council, replacing Frank López Reyes, who has assumed a position in the state government.
In a statement, the Cancun mayor Mara Lezama Espinosa appointed the new director with the task of “reinforcing the work of this agency and advancing the economic recovery in a gradual, orderly and responsible manner in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Jorge Téllez has been commercial director of Maya Air, director of promotion of the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, advisor to the Mexican Council for Tourism Promotion (CPTM) and deputy director of national promotion of the federal Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).
Lezama Espinosa thanked the outgoing director Francisco López Reyes for his work “and wished him the best of success in future projects.”
Frank López has been awarded a new position of deputy director of Institutional Liaison of the QR Government Secretariat, replacing Francisco Rello Aguilar.
