Urban rescue personnel free taxi driver trapped by concrete bollards in single vehicle crash

Cancun, Q.R. — A taxi driver left trapped inside his unit after hitting concrete bollards was freed by firemen Sunday. The driver was cut from his car by urban rescue personnel from the single vehicle accident.

Urban rescue cut the driver free from the single vehicle crash Sunday June 14, 2026.

Cancun firemen reported being called to the scene of the crash early Sunday morning where the driver of a car was stuck inside. Firemen used hydraulic equipment to open the car and free the man from behind the steering wheel.

The Cancun taxi driver was transferred to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not say how the accident happened, but did caution drivers about speeding.

“Cancun Fire Department personnel responded early this morning to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Cobá and Bonampak Avenues,” Bomberos Cancun reported.

“Upon arrival, they found a public transportation vehicle that had crashed into the traffic barrier, trapping the driver inside.

“Urban rescue personnel used specialized hydraulic equipment to open the vehicle and allow paramedics access. They worked in coordination to extract, immobilize, and then transport the patient to a medical facility for evaluation.

“We urge the public to drive with caution and respect speed limits to prevent accidents.”
