Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A two vehicle crash early Tuesday afternoon in the municipality of Puerto Morelos left both vehicles destroyed. The SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) of Quintana Roo reported only vehicle damage and minor injuries.
The accident happened shortly after noon outside the town of Leona Vicario in the municipality of Puerto Morelos. At least seven people were traveling in the two vehicles involved. None were reported seriously injured.
State Police were first on scene. Those from inside the two cars were found sitting along the side of the highway. Police offered first aid to the injured while they waited for medical personnel.
National Guard were also requested since one of the cars had a portion of the opposite lane blocked off. Traffic was slow moving through the area while police worked to attend to the injured and have the two cars towed.
An official cause of the accident was not provided.
The SSC did provide a statement late Tuesday saying “an accident was recorded between two private vehicles on the federal highway, on the stretch of road from the town of Leona Vicario towards Valladolid Nuevo.
“Elements of the SSC gave aid to those affected while waiting for the arrival of the National Guard and emergency bodies to give first aid to those involved.”
