Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Dozens of motorists left stranded due to an overturned cargo truck looted the vehicle. Groups of people were seen stealing boxed cargo from the trailer of the semi before authorities arrived.

A majority of the items removed from the semi included household appliances.
The driver of the unit was heading toward the city of Chetumal Friday when he overturned, completely blocking the highway.
National Guard were first on scene along the Othón P. Blanco single vehicle accident Friday afternoon.
The trailer was found preventing vehicle passage on a section of the Ucum-Juan Sarabia section of highway near the community of Carlos A. Madrazo.
According to witnesses, the heavy vehicle lost stability and rolled, leaving the road shut.
For approximately one hour, dozens of people took advantage of the opportunity to take refrigerators, stoves, and laundry machines that were being transported.
Upon the arrival of authorities, the driver was taken to a nearby clinic for medical assistance due to non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the accident.

National Guard diverted traffic around the blocked highway area until a tow truck arrived. That section of roadway was shut approximately three hours. There were no reports of looting arrests.
