Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — One person has been confirmed killed in a single vehicle rollover in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The accident happened early Saturday morning on a municipal bypass toward the city of Chetumal.
According to available information, the accident happened around 2:00 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons yet determined. After leaving the roadway, the car overturned several times and came to rest on its roof near the shoulder.
Rescue crews were at the scene along with National Guard Highways in response to a motorist report who saw the car on its roof.
A section of the road was closed to traffic while emergency services worked.
Paramedics located the sole occupant of the vehicle inside still behind the wheel. He was confirmed dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased man pending family notification.
