Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — The second stage of the drainage network for Old Town of Puerto Morelos has been started, which once complete, will see more than 2,000 more people connected to the main network.
Municipal president Laura Fernández Piña says the second stage of the drainage network in Old Town has been started by Aguakan and will cost just over 6 million peso to connect approximately 2,000 residents to a new two-kilometer sewage pipeline.
She says that the new network will connect SM 02 and reduce subsoil drainage pollution for the area of Casco Antiguo by eliminating the use of septic tanks. She added that the new network will also allow the collection of wastewater to be channeled to the Aguakan treatment plant in the Old Town of the municipality.
Aguakan said that they will carry out the work in coordination with the City Council of Puerto Morelos, the General Directorate of Public Works and Services, as well as the Traffic Directorate to avoid resident issues.
