Motorists stopped to help the crew from inside the small truck after seeing it land on its side. The truck ended up spinning around and falling onto the driver’s side, facing oncoming traffic along the busy federal highway.

National Guard arrived to divert moving cars around the backward-facing truck as well as its lost cargo. The driver, who had left Cancun, was passing through Puerto Morelos on his way to delivering a truckload of produce when the rear tire ruptured.

The accident was reported late Saturday morning approximately three kilometers from the north Playa del Carmen municipal border. A second company cargo vehicle arrived to remove the remaining boxes of produce from the overturned truck.

There were no injuries reported. A flatbed tow truck eventually arrived to upright the overturned truck and remove it from continuing to impede the flow of weekend highway traffic.
