Rolled transport van reduces Puerto Morelos highway traffic to a crawl

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — At least three people were taken to hospital from a single vehicle rollover Tuesday. Emergency services were at the scene of the morning accident near the Puerto Morelos overpass.

The driver of a passenger van was descending the overpass when he suddenly swerved across the central median and into the other lane.

The van, which was initially heading north, ended up overturning in oncoming traffic. The van landed on its driver’s side in a southbound lane.

Emergency services, police and National Guard responded to reports of the accident. According to preliminary information, three people from inside the van were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Federal 307 highway traffic was reduced to a crawl through the Puerto Morelos accident site. Traffic restoration was further delayed due to complications freeing the transport van driver.

Authorities did not provide information on an official cause of the accident.
